Which towns in Switzerland offer the best quality of life?
The answers to these questions are provided by BILANZ’s new 2026 municipal ranking, compiled by CIFI. For this latest study, CIFI analysed 966 Swiss municipalities with more than 2,000 inhabitants on the basis of 56 indicators divided into eight thematic areas. In addition to housing and the property sector, the assessment took into account, amongst other things, the labour market, demographic structure, tax burden, mobility, services, safety and the environment.
The study demonstrates how reliable local data and a scientifically developed methodology enable a holistic measurement of a municipality’s attractiveness. The basis for this is formed by public statistics combined with CIFI’s proprietary models relating to property prices and location analysis. In addition to the current situation, developments over recent years are also taken into account, such as trends in property prices or population growth. This highlights not only the locations that are attractive today, but also those that are particularly dynamic.
